JMCC Announces New Chief Scientific Advisor


Carole M. Lindsay, a highly respected member of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of the West Indies, has been appointed as JMCC’s Chief Scientific Advisor.


An Assistant Lecturer at UWI at both the under-graduate and post-graduate levels, Carole has also been a member of its Cannabis Research Group since 2015, where she has supervised a number of research studies related to medical uses of cannabis, among other projects, while continuing work on her PhD, which focuses on chemical profiling of Jamaican cannabis.


With extensive training and experience in forensic toxicology, Carole is also Lab Manager at the Caribbean Toxicology Unit (CARITOX), where she manages its day-to-day operations. She has also served as an Expert Witness during adverse-drug investigations by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association. Carole completed her Bachelor of Science (in Food Chemistry as a Major and Botany a Minor), and her Master of Philosophy, Biochemistry at UWI.


In her role as JMCC’s Chief Scientific Officer, Carole will advise the company on building out our laboratory operations, processes and training, and guide our research and development programs.
